FAQ

Q    What are the benefits of playing at Major League in your futsal competition as opposed to other centres?

*         With 6 courts this makes Major League a bigger competition than all the other centres put together.

*         Major League offers a first class facility.

*         Our primary school futsal is a proper competition with league ladders, semis and finals and trophies.   (All children rise to higher levels of achievement when they are put in a competitive arena and we wish to encourage this natural phenomena).

*         At the end of each semester every child who plays will receive a trophy.

*         There are free training times for teams and schools.

*         The future of the sport is secure as we are not subject to applying for a licence.

*         Being the pioneers of the sport in Ballarat we have always delivered a first class competition with first class referees and will continue to do so.

*          We have always provided, and will continue to provide, a training centre under the direction of a former national futsal coach.

*         Our annual primary school championships will continue.

*         We will be introducing our secondary school championships this year.

*         Our school holiday program will continue.

Q    How skilful is the game?

*         It can be very skilful.  As in other sports it depends on the individual ability of the player.   The net can be an asset if you know how to use it properly and that is why we are continuing with our Centre of Excellence training program.

Q    At what age can a player start?

*         Because Major League has made 6 courts available to us on a Saturday morning we will be starting training clinics with mini games for three and four year olds beginning the first week in March.

Q    What ball will we be using?

*         We will continue to use our futsal balls in both senior and junior games.

Q     Will we be holding our three day holiday program?

*         Yes.  The first three days will be as usual plus a special competition for under 9, under 11, under 13 and under 15 teams.  Details of this competition will be on our INTERCLUB button next week.

Q    What nights will seniors play?

*         Initially Wednesday and Friday nights, but when the integration with Major League teams occurs teams can apply to play on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Sunday.

*         Women only teams will initially play on Tuesday night but after integration with Major League teams they may apply to play on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Q     How big or popular is this style of futsal in Australia?

*         Enormous. All indoor cricket centres play this style of game.

Q    Will we ever have interclub competitions?

*         Yes.   This year will see the inaugural Country Victoria Futsal Championships for ages under 9, under 11, under 13 and under 15 to be held at Major League in Ballarat.   Teams from Warrnambool, Shepparton, Geelong, Melton, Werribee, Northcote, Knox, Croydon, Sunbury, Albury and Cranbourne have already indicated they will be attending.

Q     Will we be doing anything for junior girls?

*         Yes.  Tuesday 12 July 2011 has been earmarked as our inaugural Girls Only Futsal Competition for girls under 11, under 13 and under 15 from centres throughout Victoria to be held at Major League, Ballarat.

Q    If I have a question who can I contact?

*         Our email address is ray@fao.net.au  or phone 0431 485 665.
